Kia teases cheapest EV yet ahead of concept reveal this month

  • Kia has shown a glimpse of what will be its cheapest EV yet, the Kia EV2 ahead of a concept for the affordable electric hatchback being revealed later this month.
  • The Concept EV2 will be revealed at the 2025 Kia EV Day, taking place in Spain on the 27th of February.
  • With the final production model rumoured to be priced around the £25,000 mark, the EV2 will enter an increasingly competitive electric car segment.

Kia EV2 concept to be shown off later this month

The EV2 has been kept under close wraps by the manufacturer for now, but the two new teaser photos of the concept reveal some key aspects of the upcoming affordable EV – with the shape confirming a boxy hatchback shape, with elements of larger SUV styling. The front and rear light designs also align with current Kia EV models, such as the new EV3.

The EV3 currently exists as the cheapest electric car offered by the brand, starting at £32,995, but the EV2 will take this affordability crown once on sale. Full confirmation on pricing is a while away, but judging by similarly sized existing competition like the Renault 5 and Fiat Grande Panda, we can expect the EV2 to be priced at least below the £25,000 point to ensure competitiveness.

The concept reveal of the EV2 also closely coincides with Volkswagen’s similar offering, with the German manufacturer carrying out a show reveal of its €20,000 EV, just one week after the EV2 concept is set to be unveiled. This price segment of electric cars is set to become increasingly competitive over the next few years.

At the same event in Tarragona, Spain, Kia will also reveal the production EV4 in full – following on from the EV4 concept reveal back in 2023. The production going version of Kia’s all-electric van, the PV5, will also be revealed at the event – being a rival to electric vehicles such as the Volkswagen ID. Buzz. The day will also give the manufacturer a chance to further explain its electric commercial PBV platform, including the full product lineup, launch times, and how it will support the launches of EVs such as the PV5 to market.
