Kia EV3 priced as an alternative to the Volvo EX30
Prices published on Kia’s UK site show that for the ‘Air’ standard range model, on-the-road pricing starts at £32,995 ($42,000). This grants you a drivable range of 267 miles, but spend a couple thousand more, and pricing for models with the larger 81.4kWh battery pack starts at £35,995 ($45,850). This drastically improves range, with the capability to travel 372 miles – leading in its segment. Meanwhile, the most expensive EV3 comes in at £43,895 ($55,900) on the top-of-the-range ‘GT-Line S’ extended range model, which also comes with a built-in heat pump.
This pricing comes just moments after Volvo added a new ‘core’ trim level to its similarly-sized Volvo EX30 EV, which now starts at £32,850. There’s an increasing selection of EVs available around this mark, with the Hyundai Kona Electric also being a similarly priced alternative. While this is already looking to be a great budget EV, the manufacturer plans to bring in even lower-price EVs in the coming years – particularly crucial, when rivals such as Ford are promising a sub-$30k electric car by 2027.
