Britain’s fastest-growing car brand continues to break records thanks to electric cars

MG Motor has taken a market share of over 1.5 percent for the fourth month this year as the brand continues its incredible growth. What’s most impressive about MG’s sales figures is that electric vehicles (EVs) accounted for around a third of their sales.

During May MG sold 2,453 cars and has sold 10,760 cars so far this year. This is more than in 2018 in pre-pandemic times which makes these figures stand out even more. The British carmaker has seen an 89.2 percent growth so far this year.

A big part of MG’s success in recent years has been the sales of their electric cars the MG ZS EV, the MG5 EV and MG HS Plug-in. Sales of the pure battery electric vehicles (BEVs) so far this year account for 31.7 percent of sales.

When you compare this to the industry average of 7.5 percent it’s all the more impressive. It also goes to show how British drivers are changing their attitudes to zero-emissions driving. MG are currently offering a £750 incentive for electric car customers during June 2021.

Guy Pigounakis, commercial director MG, said: “So far in 2021, we’ve seen an incredible sales performance from our dealer network. The EV volumes in particular are fantastic.

“We are committed to making EVs affordable for everyone and MG is clearly firing the public’s imagination with its combination of great quality, high tech, incredible value and our 7 Year Warranty.”
