- As Renault continues its affordable EV offensive, the manufacturer has revealed UK pricing for the Renault 4, a small electric SUV set to hit UK sales books from July.
- Prices will start from £26,995, placing it a step above Renault’s retro-inspired electric hatchback, the 5, which starts at £22,995.
- The Renault 4 joins a growing cohort of affordable electric cars priced below £30,000, with many achieving price parity with comparable ICE-powered models on the market.
Renault 4 to be priced well below the £30,000 mark
At launch, three trim levels will be available: the entry-level Evolution, starting at £26,995, the £28,995 Techno, and range-topping £30,995 Iconic. All three of these will pack the same motor and battery combination, offering up 150 horsepower and a battery capacity of 52kWh. That’ll be enough for a respectable 0-62mph time of 8.2 seconds, whilst claimed range stands around the 245 miles mark.
That’s the same electric motor and battery combination you’ll see on many Renault 5 models, owing to the fact that both cars operate on the same AmpR Small platform underpinnings. For now, at least, the Renault 4 won’t be offered with the less powerful 120 horsepower, 40kWh motor and battery combination found in the entry-level Renault 5. However, should Renault decide to offer that combination in the future, it could bring down the base price of the Renault 4 even further.
Boot space (with the rear seats up) on the Renault 4 stands at a sizeable 420 litres, and the included charging cable won’t eat into this, thanks to a 55 litre underfloor storage area. Compare that to electric cars in a similar price bracket, and the 4 looks to be one of the most practical EVs for the money.
Following the initial launch, Renault will also introduce the option of a sliding canvas roof, making the Renault 4 a viable alternative to the best electric convertible cars.

Much like the Renault 5, which was met with viral vanfare upon its reveal and subsequent sales launch, Renault is expecting customer demand for the 4 to be significant. With that in mind, it’ll once again be operating its ‘R Pass’ scheme – a £150 payment to give consumers the opportunity to purchase a 4 ahead of its general public release, allowing them to be the first to take delivery. The official opening date for orders in the UK will be the 15th of July, but for R Pass customers, this starts from the 1st of July.
With the fully-electric Renault Twingo EV still on the way, Renault’s major electrification drive is only just getting started.
