What are the best electric convertible cars in 2026?
MG Cyberster – MINI Electric Convertible – Longbow Speedster – Fiat/Abarth 500e Convertible – Smart EQ ForTwo Cabrio – Microlino Spiaggina – Maserati GranCabrio Folgore
MG Cyberster

The MG brand came to fame in the 20th century partly thanks to its assortment of sports cars, and the MG Cyberster is the first electric sports car to come out of the brand since China’s SAIC acquired the brand back in 2007. The entry-level Cyberster offers up 335 horsepower and a 0-62mph time of five seconds. Also, you won’t find another car with scissor doors at this price level. While it’s certainly not the cheapest electric car on the market, it still offers decent value if you compare its price-to-performance ratio against combustion engined counterparts.
MINI Electric Convertible

The MINI Cooper Convertible was offered in fully-electric form for a limited run, and whilst it received praise from reviewers you’ll need to keep a close eye on the used car market to come across one of these rare models. Just 999 examples were produced worldwide, with all allocated to the European market (and only 150 of those to the UK in particular).
The MINI Electric Convertible takes what was already great about the previous generation electric MINI and adds to its existing driving fun with a top-down experience.
We’ve yet to see a convertible version of the all-new electric MINI Cooper, however.
Longbow Speedster

Whilst technically not a convertible (the Longbow Speedster doesn’t actually have a roof), it still deserves a place on this list as one of the most revolutionary EVs for top-down driving. Created by a group of ex-Tesla and ex-Lucid Motors executives, the Speedster aims to create a new category of ‘featherweight’ EVs. With a kerb weight of 895 kilograms, this EV aims to bring driving fun into the electric era – and could be the perfect car to convert devoted petrolheads to voltheads.
Fiat 500e Convertible and Abarth 500e Convertible

Fiat’s latest all-electric 500 is also available with the roof off. With its retro styling and small carbon footprint, it’s the perfect summertime city car. But, with a quoted range of 199 miles, cruise control, and a top speed of 93mph, it’s equally as capable on longer journeys. The rapid charge facility can add up to 30 miles of range in 5 minutes, or 80% in around 35 minutes. As standard, it also comes with a 10-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
If you’re looking for something a little sportier, Fiat’s in-house performance brand Abarth offers a souped-up 500e convertible. This comes with sports seats, tweaked exterior styling, and an improved 0-60mph time of 6.8 seconds. This model also comes with an engine sound generator, emulating the sound of previous petrol-powered Abarth models.
Smart EQ Fortwo Cabrio

Smart’s two-seat convertible is one of the best electric convertible cars for the city, with a length of just under 2.7 metres. It’s also one of the cheapest electric convertible cars you can buy on our list. Standard equipment includes heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and Apple Carplay/Android Auto integration.
Microlino Spiaggina

Is the Smart ForTwo not small enough for you? This is the Microlino Spiaggina, a new variant of the tiny Swiss-designed Microlino EV, now available with a removable fabric roof.
We had the chance to test out the Microlino Spiaggina on the crowded streets of London, and with a range of 109 miles, it’s capable of longer top-down journeys too.
Maserati GranCabrio Folgore

Maserati has now released its first fully-electric convertible in the form of the GranCabrio Folgore. It’s certainly the fastest droptop EV on this list, with a 761 horsepower electric motor delivering a top speed of 180mph and a 0-60mph time of 2.7 seconds. It’s definitely the most expensive vehicle on this list, however.
In the future – Polestar 6

Polestar are yet to give a firm release window for the Polestar 6, which we’ve already seen early glimpses of through the brand’s ‘electric roadster concept’. This will be a premium four-seater convertible, which is also likely to be a performance monster – possibly matching or exceeding the power of some of Polestar’s most powerful EVs on sale right now, such as the Polestar 5.
Going halfway
As you can see, the total number of fully-electric convertible cars on the market is still fairly limited. However, if you still want some wind and sun in your hair, there are plenty more EVs which offer retractable sunroofs – almost giving you the feeling of a convertible. Examples of models (both old and new) that come with these as standard or as an optional extra include:
- BMW i4
- Chevrolet Equinox EV
- Kia EV9
- MG ZS EV
- Renault 4
- Tesla Model S
