Spanish firm Wallbox has announced Supernova, which is its next-generation public fast charger that offers higher performance and greater efficiency. Supernova is Wallbox’s first public charger and uses an optimised internal design that makes it light and easy to install by integrating multiple elements of Wallbox’s award-winning bidirectional charger Quasar.
Supernova is rated at 65kW which is to enough to charge around 93 miles (150km) of range in about 30 minutes. Best of all for customers it’s going to cost half the price typically charged to electric car drivers.
Wallbox’s move into the public charging space complements its existing services that offer residential and semi-public charging currently found in over 40 countries globally. This sector is set to grow exponentially in the future thanks to extensive global investment to expand public charging networks.
Europe is installing one million public charge points by 2025. France for example will be committing to 100,000 chargers next year. Germany is aiming for one million chargers over the coming decade.
The new Supernova chargers are sleek and compact looking. They feature a small display and two plugs (CHAdeMO and CCS Combo) but it’s expected there will be more dual CCS in the future.
