XPENG has launched its G9L flagship SUV in Europe at the Paris Motor Show, with European order books now open. The large SUV will also be built locally at Magna Steyr’s plant in Austria, making it the fourth XPENG model to be produced in Europe.
XPENG G9L joins the luxury electric SUV segment
Pricing across Europe will start from around €75,000, which places the G9L firmly at the premium end of the large SUV market, alongside models like the Kia EV9, Volvo EX90, and the BYD Atto 8 – also unveiled this week.
The G9L will be available in both a six or seven seat layout inside, and be offered in either range extender or fully-electric format – with the latter offering a WLTP range of 367 miles (591 kilometres). Thanks to an 800V architecture, XPENG is claiming a 10-80% battery top-up time of less than 12 minutes on a suitable public charger.
Alongside the reveal of the G9L at the Paris Motor Show, XPENG is also running its first large-scale public test rides in Europe of its ‘Next Generation Pilot’ assisted driving system, which the G9L will feature from the factory. In Europe, however, its NGP system is still awaiting final certification, expected to be completed in early 2027.
The G9L’s launch comes as XPENG continues to expand its operations, particularly in Europe. It follows closely behind the European launch of the XPENG L03, which starts from a much more affordable €35,000, showing that XPENG is prepared to compete across a wide range of price points in the EV market.
