Smart Charge continues its rapid expansion passing over 500 ultra-rapid charging bays across the UK

Smart Charge has just reached a major milestone. The company now boasts over 500 ultra-rapid EV charging bays across the UK. This comes after the launch of its latest hub in Tamworth, Staffordshire.

The achievement marks impressive growth for Smart Charge. In just over a year, it has rapidly expanded its network, adding 55 hubs and 447 bays. And it doesn’t stop there. The company has plans to hit 750 bays by the end of 2024.

One standout feature of Smart Charge is its partnership with Sainsbury’s. EV drivers can charge their vehicles while they shop. Even better, they can earn Nectar points while doing so. This makes Smart Charge the first UK charging network to integrate a national loyalty scheme.

In June 2024, Smart Charge opened its 50th hub in Enfield, bringing the total number of bays to over 400. Just recently, the new hub at Nine Elms added eight more ultra-rapid bays to the tally.

Using existing supermarket locations has fast-tracked the network’s growth. As more hubs open, EV drivers across the country will have even more charging options. Smart Charge is quickly becoming a major player in the UK’s EV charging market.
