Societe Generale and ALD are holding discussions with LeasePlan and its shareholders regarding a potential partnership of ALD and Lease Plan to create a global emobility leader.
ALD is a global leader in mobility solutions providing full service leasing and fleet management services across 43 countries. It has a client base of large corporates, small and medium-sized (SMEs) companies, professionals and private individuals.
ALD places sustainable mobility at the heart of its strategy, delivering innovative mobility solutions and technology-enabled services to its clients, helping them focus on their everyday business. The company has 6,700 employees around the globe and ALD manages 1.76 million vehicles.
LeasePlan are a global car-as-a-service with approximately 1.8 million vehicles under management in 29 countries. Alfonso Martinez, LeasePlan managing director, believes that leasing electric vehicles is obvious because there’s no big outlay.
Leasing also allows fleet managers to reap all the benefits of cheaper running costs, which are less than half the price of traditional vehicles, less need for servicing and are zero emission zone exempt.
Earlier this year LeasePlan exhibited their ARRIVAL all-electric van at the EV Summit which is ideal for zero-emission driving in urban locations. LeasePlan are now the preferred operational leasing partner for ARRIVAL electric vans. The partnership is based on an initial order of 3,000 vans, with the sales agreement expected to be finalised in the third quarter of 2021.
The merger of ALD and LeasePlan could create a global power in sustainable emobility. There is no certainty at this stage that these discussions will result in any agreement or transaction. Further announcements will be made when appropriate according to applicable laws.
