- Another opportunity for new EV buyers to benefit from affordable and simplified home charging solutions has been made possible, thanks to a partnership between EV manufacturer Genesis and home charge point provider Ohme.
- Under the partnership, Ohme has become the official home EV charging partner for Genesis, allowing Genesis buyers straightforward access to charge point purchase, installation, and ongoing support.
- Under a EV-specific energy tariff, Genesis’ GV60 EV can be fully-charged from as little as £5.88, further highlighting the potential cost savings for EV buyers.
Genesis chooses Ohme as its official home charging partner
In an effort to make the electric car transition even more seamless and easy to manage, buyers of new Genesis EVs will have the option to be referred directly to Ohme for a home charger installation.
Ohme’s smart chargers take live data from the grid, making them compatible with some of the most affordable smart EV energy tariffs available in the UK. Out of the box, these chargers will adjust charging periods to take place during times when energy is at its cleanest and cheapest – typically overnight. When combined with an energy tariff such as Octopus Energy’s Intelligent Octopus Go tariff (with a smart charging rate of 7p per kWh), this is enough to charge up a 84kWh Genesis GV60 for just £5.88, offering a full charge of 348 miles. Compare that to the price it would cost to fill up the petrol/diesel tank of a similarly sized new SUV, and it’s clear to see how EVs are saving drivers costs in the long term.
As Genesis has recently made plans to become an electric-only car brand across the UK and mainland Europe, this new partnership aligns with Genesis’ strategy to remain fully committed to an electric future.
Ohme has recently forged partnerships with other OEMs to become their official home charging partner, including brands such as Suzuki and XPENG.
Ashley Andrew, President and CEO of Genesis and Hyundai UK, commented:
“Ohme’s strong customer service ethos aligns with Genesis’ Son Nim customer centric approach. As a result, we’re delighted to partner with Ohme for the benefit of our customers and our retailer network.”
Peter McDonald, Director of Ohme, added:
“We’re looking forward to bringing the Ohme benefits of easy charging and low running costs to Genesis customers. With Genesis refreshing its line-up of electric models this year, customers not only have an updated product range to choose from but access to all that Ohme can bring to their ownership experience.”
