- As Suzuki looks to introduce more fully-electric models into its UK lineup following the Suzuki e VITARA launch, the OEM has partnered with home charging provider Ohme to provide seamless charging options for its EV-buying customers.
- Under the partnership, Suzuki dealerships will officially recommend Ohme chargers to customers who require a home charger installation, with Ohme chargers available to view within its stores.
- Suzuki joins a growing list of OEMs who have partnered with Ohme, such as XPENG, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen Group.
Suzuki selects Ohme as its home charging partner
Ohme’s dynamic chargers have the ability to receive live grid data, and with added compatibility for EV-specific energy tariffs, can schedule EV charging to take place at the cheapest and greenest times – allowing the opportunity for EV cost of ownership to slip further below that of an equivalent ICE car. In the e VITARA’s case, this could equate to a full charge for the price of £4.27, based on pricing of the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff.
Manufacturers teaming up with home chargepoint providers is a growing trend, and has mutual benefits for both sides. In this case, Ohme gets the chance to promote its home charging options to an even larger audience, and on Suzuki’s side, the partnership helps simplify the process of home chargers for customers who are purchasing an EV for the first time and may be unfamiliar with the technology – helping convince more to make the switch to electric.
Currently, Suzuki sells just one EV in the UK, the e VITARA, but the manufacturer has ambitious plans to add several more fully-electric cars to its lineup in the run up to 2030.
David Kateley, Director of Automobile at Suzuki GB, commented:
“As Suzuki’s first ever electric car, the introduction of e Vitara will be crucial for us in the UK and our partnership with Ohme will play an important part in that car’s success. Ohme’s cutting edge technology will help to lower running costs for owners, while their commitment to customer service makes them an ideal match for us improving the ownership experience of the e Vitara still further.”
David Watson, CEO of Ohme, added:
“I’m delighted to announce this new collaboration with Suzuki. With Suzuki’s expertise in the four-wheel drive market, the e Vitara is a great choice for those wanting to combine 4×4 technology with electric motoring. We’re looking forward to introducing Suzuki’s customers to the benefits of dynamic charging and supporting its dealer network.”
