- The annual Paris Motor Show kicks off next week, running from the 14th to the 20th of October.
- As car makers continue to offer an increased portfolio of fully-electric models, there are a significant number of EVs set to be on show at the event.
- In no particular order, here are the most important electric cars to look out for next week.
Renault 4

Another addition to Renault’s all-electric portfolio, the Renault 4, will be unveiled in full next week. We’ve already seen teaser photos, showing how it’s likely to be positioned as a more practical, five-door alternative to the Renault 5, whilst still hoping to be a design hit with its retro-inspired design. Once it goes on sale, expect it to be priced around the €30,000 mark.
All-electric MINI JCWs

MINI’s performance sub brand, John Cooper Works, has historically been reserved for only the fastest MINI models. Whilst we’ve already seen an electric hot hatch in the form of the all-electric MINI Cooper SE, that performance is set to be taken up a notch.
Two all-electric JCW models will be unveiled at the motor show, and whilst MINI haven’t specifically detailed which two models these will be, one will almost certainly be a JCW variant of the electric Cooper, after a prototype of such a model was revealed earlier this year. For the other model, this could either be an Aceman JCW or Countryman JCW, two marques that were recently added to MINI’s EV offerings.
Alpine A390_β

Renault Group-owned performance brand, Alpine, will also be revealing its second fully-electric car at the show, in the form of the ‘A390_β’. The β at the end of the model suggests this will be an early concept rather than the finished production model, much in the same way the Alpine A290 was initially revealed in a ‘beta’ phase.
The A390 will be a coupe-crossover blend, packing both practicality and performance. Considering the wild popularity of crossovers and SUVs, the A390 could become an EV selling in higher numbers than its sibling, the 3-door A290.
BYD

Despite recent EU tariffs imposed, BYD is indicating that it’s here to stay in Europe, and will also be revealing a new-to-Europe EV at the event. Whilst the manufacturer hasn’t confirmed the model, rumours are that this will be the BYD Sea Lion 07, which is further backed up by the silhouette provided in BYD’s marketing material.
Already on sale in China from around 190,000 yuan (€24,500), expect the Sea Lion 07 to cost more than that when it hits Europe, likely to be priced in line with the similarly-sized key rival, the Tesla Model Y.
These are just a few of the models set to be unveiled at the show, while many already-revealed models will also be on display to be further promoted. Plus, even more EVs, that have been kept under closer wraps, may be unexpectedly revealed or teased at the motor show. Stay tuned to ElectricDrives over next week, as we cover key EV news coming out of the event.
