ubitricity offer a day of free electric car charging on World EV Day

Exciting news for electric car and vehicle drivers is that on the September 9 they will be able to plug in and top up their cars for free as part of FREECHARGE for World EV Day. Any car plugged into a public ubitricity charging station between 00:01am and 23:59pm on this day will receive their charge session at zero cost.

ubitricity are the lamp post off-street charging infrastructure company and the second biggest provider in the UK. They hope that the FREECHARGE offer will accelerate electric car and vehicle uptake by increasing awareness about how easily public chargers can be accessed in local areas, and shift perspectives about the accessibility of electric car and vehicle charging. The scheme aims to demonstrate the broad appeal of electric cars and how they can work for every lifestyle, not just people who have access to off-street parking.

FREECHARGE is happening as part of World EV Day, which is a global movement coming together to celebrate emobility. It’s a day designed to shift the transition to sustainable transport with consumer, business and policy outcomes. It has major partners on board from around the world including ABB, BYD, DPD, LeasePlan Polestar, Mahindra Electric, National Grid and Shell NewMotion. World EV Day aims to catalyse public opinion worldwide to accelerate the uptake of electric vehicles.

Daniel Bentham, Managing Director of ubitricity, said: “In support of World EV Day, and to reward existing and new customers for making the transition to electric vehicles, I am pleased to launch the first FREECHARGE event from ubitricity. On the day, I hope as many people as possible seek out their nearest ubitricity charge point to take advantage of 100 percent renewable electricity that is 100 percent free.”

Ade Thomas, Founder of Green.TV, the company behind World EV Day, said: “World EV Day is all about encouraging the next cohort of consumers to engage with the sustainability and cost saving benefits of electric cars and vehicles. The FREECHARGE campaign, by ubitricity, is a great tool to help with that goal.”
