Birmingham’s EV infrastructure just got a boost with a new Zest charging hub

Zest has launched a new electric vehicle (EV) charging facility in the heart of Oscott, Birmingham. The new chargers offer shoppers an easy way to charge, and residents a new avenue to EV ownership.

Located at the junction of Aldridge and Birdbrook roads, the charging points are near local independent shops. This makes it convenient for people to charge their cars while running errands. The investment has been welcomed by the community, including residents, businesses, and local leaders.

Councillor Darius Sandhu, said:

“This is an important development for Oscott as we work to build a cleaner, greener Birmingham. Access to reliable EV infrastructure is key to encouraging more residents to make the switch to electric vehicles.

Zest’s community charger provides the necessary infrastructure needed to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in the transition to sustainable transport.”

The new facility is part of Zest’s plan to expand EV infrastructure across the UK. The company is focusing on areas where charging options are limited. With this new hub, and the bp pulse sponsorship of the city’s largest arena, Birmingham is embracing an EV future.

Robin Heap, CEO of Zest, said:

“Most of us will soon be driving EVs and the UK needs more public charging now, especially close to where people live. Zest local charging, like this facility in Oscott, provide new community assets that breathe new life into communities across the country.”
