- Geely-owned EV brand, Zeekr, is bringing a third EV to the European market, with the arrival of the Zeekr 7X: An all-electric, midsize luxury SUV, set to take on the likes of the Tesla Model Y, and the also new-to-Europe BYD Sealion 7.
- The 7X has been positioned as a software-defined vehicle (SDV), with bags of computing power, advanced driving assistance, 5G connectivity, and augmented reality features.
- Order books for the 7X are initially opening in the Netherlands, Sweden, and Norway, with the first examples set to be delivered to customers by summer next year.
The Zeekr 7X EV heads to Europe
Prices for the 7X are expected to start at €52,990 in the Netherlands, while in Sweden and Norway, it’ll start at 579,000 Swedish Krona and 539,900 Norwegian Krone respectively. Another midsize electric SUV, the Tesla Model Y, starts at a lower €45,990 in most markets, though it’s clear that Zeekr is hoping to make that difference up by promoting a premium and luxury image for the 7X. In long range form, range is rated at an impressive 600 kilometres (373 miles), while moving up the range, customers will also be able to specify a dual-motor performance model, which can dispatch 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds.
The 800 volt architecture used on the 7X will also allow for charge speeds up to 360kW, making it one of the fastest charging EVs on the market: With a 10-80% charge capable in as little as 13 minutes, depending on the model.
Norway recently became the third European territory to take delivery of Zeekr EVs, though more countries are in the pipeline – including France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. On that final country, Zeekr already produces right-hand-drive examples of its EVs for other countries that drive on the left, which should make its UK debut a little easier.
