World EV Day™ kicks off in Europe, with net-zero activations, announcements, and EV Meetups
Today, September 9, 2024, marks the fifth annual World EV Day™. This global celebration highlights the progress in emobility and the shift toward net-zero transport. Since its inception by Green.TV Media’s Ade Thomas in 2020, World EV Day™ has grown meteorically. It’s caught attention from leaders worldwide, from the UK Parliament to the White House’s top climate advisors.
This year, the celebration is bigger than ever. Auto Trader returns as Headline Partner, with support from new partners such as Konect, The State of Illinois, ANC, and Mahindra Racing.
In Australia and New Zealand, World EV Day™ is already underway. Both nations have been celebrating with a range of activities to promote emobility. bp pulse is offering a 15% discount on public EV charging across its 140+ stations in both countries and its global network of over 35,700 charge points.
In New Zealand, electric car-sharing company GoTo is providing free charging at its public station in Tauranga. ANC, Australia’s leading last-mile delivery firm, has committed to adding 112 electric vehicles to its fleet and more charging stations over the next two years. The Australian Electric Vehicle Association (AEVA) hosted an EV meetup at the Canberra Institute of Technology.
The world is ready to celebrate. Today, expect to see social media buzzing with the #DriveChange hashtag. Look out for special events, both online and in person, as companies, policymakers, and thought leaders come together to promote electric vehicles (EVs).
So, how will you celebrate today? However you choose to join in, let’s all push for a green future, and an equitable transition. Happy World EV Day™!
