- The most affordable electric Volvo available right now, the Volvo EX30, is bookable for test drives at EV LIVE at Blenheim Palace, with Waylands Automotive bringing a number of its EVs to the event.
- Replacing the EX40 AND EC40 as the cheapest fully-electric Volvos available, the EX30 only began deliveries earlier this year, and has already become the third best selling EV in Europe.
- Thanks to the recent addition of a cheaper trim line, the EX30 now starts at £32,850 in the UK, making it a credible rival to EVs such as the Tesla Model Y and Kia Niro EV.
Test drive the Volvo EX30 at this month’s EV LIVE
The Volvo EX30 is the cheapest EV that Volvo offers right now, offering an electric SUV experience, at a price usually reserved for smaller segment cars. Thanks to the introduction of a new ‘Core’ model, the EX30 now starts at just £32,850, for a single motor setup offering a range of 209 miles. On the other end of the spectrum, at around £41,600, is the Twin Motor Performance option, offering 279 miles and a sports car-rivalling 0-62mph time of only 3.6 seconds.
The list of standard equipment is vast, too. Even on the most affordable Core trim, this includes adaptive cruise control, ambient interior lighting, a vast 12.3-inch touchscreen, and a four-year subscription to Google services, just to name a few.
With its SUV-like proportions, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the EX30 is a large SUV unsuited for the city. However, it’s actually shorter in length, and narrower, than a Tesla Model 3, and smaller than its close relative, the EX40. Despite this, that boxy shape pays dividends. Its boot is fairly decent for its overall size, while the rear seats benefit from significantly more room than you’d get in a similarly-priced hatchback, making it the ideal electric family car for urban driving.
Plus, for those who also have sustainability at the front of their mind when purchasing an EV, the EX30 is also a sound choice. A life cycle assessment on the EX30, undertaken by Volvo, found it had the lowest carbon footprint of any EV released by the manufacturer yet. The 23 tonnes of carbon, after 124,000 miles of travel, was also 60% lower than a petrol-powered Volvo XC40.

Returning for its third year, EV LIVE at Blenheim Palace is an immersive event showcasing a range of electric vehicles, from cars to ebikes, with the opportunity to test drive and ride both, alongside the showcase of green living technology such as heat pumps, solar panels, and battery storage solutions.
