UK specs for new Volkswagen ID. Buzz variants revealed

  • Volkswagen UK revealed the specifications for two new variants of its ID. Buzz electric van.
  • This includes the ID. Buzz LWB, a longer wheelbase version of the original, which packs more interior space and room for a larger battery capacity.
  • The other new variant on offer is the ID. Buzz GTX, the most powerful ID. Buzz yet, with performance stats capable of shocking some sports cars.

More Volkswagen ID. Buzz models on the way

The new ID. Buzz GTX will be the fastest van available once it goes on sale in the UK, with power hiked from the stock ID. Buzz’s 286PS, up to 340PS, thanks to a twin motor setup. This grants a 0-62mph time of just 6.1 seconds. Its performance credentials show on the outside too, with revamped wheels, GTX badging, and a new seat and steering wheel design. The ID. Buzz GTX is arguably in a class of its own, with no other electric van competitors offering performance variants. Ford did reveal an electric ‘SuperVan’ a few years ago, but this was just a concept. For those looking for something with the capability to carry both seven people and have sports car levels of performance, indirect rivals from outside the MPV class include EVs such as the Tesla Model X, and the Kia EV9 GT-Line S. We’re still waiting to hear exact pricing on the GTX model, however.

The ID. Buzz LWB extends the wheelbase out over the standard model, increasing the length from 4,712mm to 4,962mm. While it can be specced with seven seats, just like the shorter model, this allows for increased boot space while the third row is in place – 306 litres, to be exact. The longer length also allows for a larger 86kWh battery pack, increasing the ID. Buzz’s range to 291 miles. Pricing for the LWB variant will start at £59,545.
