- In what will be the third fully-electric passenger car from the brand, Toyota is set to reveal an electric compact SUV next month, on the 12th of March.
- Toyota has teased an outline of the new car, which looks noticeably similar to its bZ Compact SUV Concept revealed back in 2022.
- With other OEMs such as BMW, Volkswagen, and Hyundai already having a wide EV portfolio, will this new model help Toyota play catch up in an EV-centric future?
Toyota to reveal its third fully-electric car next month
As per Toyota’s sneak preview, this new EV will be a blend of crossover and coupe design, in a shape that looks similar to something like the Alpine A390 Concept – but with a likely much lower price tag. The manufacturer says that this new, yet-named EV will combine ‘elevated driving dynamics’ with space, comfort, and versatility. While the teaser photo and videos don’t reveal much, there are a few clues – such as an ‘all wheel drive’ badge on the rear of the car, hinting at possible sporty credentials. We can also look back to Toyota’s 2022 concept photos, below, to get a better idea of what this new EV could look like, come March.

Whilst we’ll have to wait until Toyota reveals pricing and specifications to know exactly where this new EV stands in the market, it is likely to rival more premium electric rivals. It should stand above the recently-revealed Toyota Urban Cruiser EV but below the larger bZ4X, within Toyota’s lineup. With Tesla sales continuing to drop in Europe, this new EV could scoop up market share from the Model 3 and Model Y.
2025 is gearing up to be a busy year for Toyota’s EV expansion, with the Urban Cruiser EV set to arrive in showrooms later this year. By 2026 in Europe, Toyota will offer 15 specific EV models. This soon-to-be-revealed model, and the Urban Cruiser, account for two of these – so expect to see yet more Toyota EV reveals in the coming year.
