- TATA.ev, the fully-electric branch of India’s automotive multinational, Tata Motors, has launched the first of its ‘MegaChargers’ across India, which are set to significantly influence EV adoption right across the country.
- This mix of rapid and ultra-rapid EV chargers are strategically located along major highway corridors, with more to come in the future – TATA.ev previously committed to at least 500 MegaChargers across India.
- Charging speeds of up to 400kW will be capable on the new network.
TATA.ev’s new charging network brings boost to Indian EV adoption
The first ten sites have been located along major highway routes, including the Mumbai to Ahmedabad highway, where four separate MegaCharger stations have been spaced approximately every 60 kilometres along the 270 kilometre route. With speeds on the new network ranging from 120kW to 400kW, the flagship site has been located in Vadodara. This site is capable of that latter speed, whilst supporting simultaneous charging for up to six EVs.
All of these MegaCharger sites will be open for users of all electric vehicles, but priority service will be given to those driving TATA.ev-branded vehicles, with discounts of on the charging tariff of up to 25% for TATA.ev customers. To help rapidly grow the network, TATA.ev has been partnering with both chargepoint operators and oil companies that are navigating their own switch to electrification. For some of these first ten locations, those two partners include Indian CPOs Statiq and ChargeZone.
Taking into account all EV chargers (and not just MegaChargers), TATA.ev is working towards a commitment to double the number of available charge points in India to 400,000, by 2027. The last few years have seen significant growth for India’s EV sector, and not just for passenger cars.
Balaje Rajan, Chief Strategy Officer for Passenger Vehicles and EVs at Tata Motors, commented:
“At a time when EV adoption is on its growth path, ubiquitous and dependable charging infrastructure is the need of the hour. These first 10 TATA.ev MegaCharger sites in key EV corridors of the country are the first tranche of a superfast charging network that we will have across major highways. The TATA.ev MegaCharger network will increasingly connect all major cities across India to remove charging anxiety. We are on a mission to provide fast, reliable, and effortless charging that enables seamless mobility across the country – and we are just getting started.”
Akshit Bansal, Founder and CEO at Statiq, added:
“Our collaboration with TATA.ev is a milestone in building a trusted, nationwide EV charging network. By co-branding with them, we will make EV adoption more accessible and reliable for every Indian, empowering users to easily locate and use charging stations through the iRA.ev & Statiq app.”

Mr. Kartikey Hariyani, CEO and Managing Director at ChargeZone, added:
“We are proud to partner with TATA.ev to unveil our first co-branded SuperCharging Station on NH48, which is strategically located along key National Highway corridors. Together, ChargeZone and TATA.ev are pushing the boundaries of EV charging in India by focusing on the needs of today’s EV drivers—fast, reliable, and easily accessible solutions. We’re building a seamless EV ecosystem that supports innovative features including auto charge, RFID tap and charge, which meets current demands and future mobility needs.”
