Skoda expands its electric SUV portfolio with the Skoda Peaq

Skoda to offer a seven-seat electric SUV for the first time, with the upcoming Skoda Peaq
  • The number of electric SUV models within Skoda’s portfolio is set to grow further, with the manufacturer teasing images of the Skoda Peaq: a large, premium electric SUV with a range north of 600 kilometres (372 miles).
  • Once going on sale later this year, the Skoda Peaq will become the largest car offered by Skoda, and will be offered in seven-seat format, making it a strong option as an electric family car.
  • Skoda plans to double its all-electric portfolio through 2026, with the Peaq being a key model in achieving this.

Another electric SUV is on the horizon from Skoda

Skoda has now teased photos of the Peaq in pre-production form, and this model will arrive later this year. It’s not the only new Skoda electric SUV arriving this year, with the Skoda Epiq compact SUV also set to be revealed in full this May as the most affordable Skoda EV – a polar opposite to the Peaq which will become Skoda’s flagship electric product.

The Peaq is an important car in Skoda’s EV journey, as it’ll become the first Skoda electric car with the option of seven seats, which could make it a significant hit with families. Right now, only a handful of electric models offer seven seat options, such as the Kia EV9, Volvo EX90, and Mercedes-Benz GLB, alongside van-derived options such as the Volkswagen ID. Buzz.

As Skoda’s flagship electric model, the Peaq will have a number of features to distinguish it from the rest of the range as a premium model. This includes massage seat functions, a Sonos-developed stereo system, and fully flush door handles (a first for a Skoda). It’ll also impress when it comes to battery range, with Skoda claiming a range above 600 kilometres (372 miles) when the car is specified with the long range battery pack.

Like many new EVs, Skoda has confirmed that the Peaq will support both vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-home (V2H), allowing the Peaq to play an integral role in the home energy ecosystem.

Expect to find out more information on pricing for this flagship electric SUV in the next few months, as Skoda targets a ‘mid-2026’ release for the Peaq.

Klaus Zellmer, Škoda Auto CEO, commented on the upcoming model:

“The Škoda Peaq is designed for real life – for families who need space, for drivers who want confidence on long journeys, and for anyone who values modern style without compromise. As our next flagship, it raises the Škoda brand to a new level: more spacious, more practical, and more attractive for everyday explorers. Peaq brings a new sense of scale, smart functionality, and progressive design to the large electric SUV segment, setting a benchmark for what a modern Škoda can be. With its efficient electric drivetrain and focus on sustainable mobility, it blends practicality, emotion, and responsibility to create a new feeling of freedom on the road. And as customers expect from Škoda, it delivers all of this with a uniquely balanced, value‑driven approach. With Peaq, we’re taking Škoda’s electric journey to new heights – in every sense.”
