- The Skoda Epiq will soon become the most affordable electric car offered by the brand, after the car is fully revealed to the public this spring.
- It’ll also be the first Skoda EV to be based on Volkswagen Group’s new MEB+ EV platform, which is also forming the basis of other upcoming affordable models from the group.
- The Epiq will play a key role in Skoda’s aim to double its all-electric model portfolio by the end of the year.
Skoda’s cheapest EV is just around the corner
Skoda has previewed its upcoming compact electric crossover, the Skoda Epiq, ahead of its full reveal in May. This new model is set to become the entry point into Skoda’s EV model lineup, with the Epiq touted to target a starting price below €25,000 / £25,000. This price will place it squarely in line of some of the cheapest electric cars available, such as the similarly-sized Citroen e-C3 Aircross and Renault 4.
In many territories, the Epiq will also achieve price parity with its ICE-powered equivalent, the Skoda Kamiq, allowing it to join a growing list of EVs that are priced equally with their petrol and diesel counterparts. With cars priced like this, the consumer decision to switch to electric is easier than ever.
The Epiq will be the first model from Skoda based on Volkswagen Group’s MEB+ platform. This next-generation platform offers improved range and efficiency – in the Epiq’s case, this will allow for a maximum range of 267 miles and fast charging at up to 133kW. Other upcoming cars within the Volkswagen Group set to use the MEB+ platform include the Volkswagen ID. Polo and Cupra Raval.
Skoda’s EV range has already seen record sales across Europe, particularly with its Elroq, which was the second-best selling EV across Europe in 2025. With the Epiq’s new-low price point, it could replicate its bigger sibling’s success.
Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Skoda Auto, commented:
“Škoda is making electromobility even more accessible with the Epiq, as it becomes the third model in our growing all-electric portfolio. This smart SUV crossover marks a significant expansion of our range, combining attractive design, generous space and affordability to appeal to entirely new customer groups. With pricing in many markets comparable to the combustion-engine Kamiq, customers gain true freedom of choice in terms of both powertrain and vehicle style. The Epiq builds on Škoda’s strong momentum in electric mobility. In 2025, the Elroq ranked as the second best-selling BEV in Europe, while the Enyaq secured seventh place, giving Škoda two models in the European BEV Top 5 and placing the brand fourth overall among fully electric vehicles. With the Epiq, we are set to continue and accelerate this success story.”
