Shell launches an electric truck charge point at the Shell Markham Moor Truck Stop in the UK
Shell has opened its first UK charge point for electric trucks at the Shell Markham Moor Truck Stop in Nottinghamshire. This marks an important step in supporting the transition to electric HGVs. The truck stop is located along the A1, a key route for over 8,000 HGVs passing through daily.
The new 400kW charging station allows for fast charging, with two vehicles able to charge at once. Fleet managers can reserve charging bays in advance using the “Book and Charge” system. This feature helps minimise downtime and improve efficiency for transport companies.
Drivers can also use a single Shell Card for all their refuelling and charging needs, simplifying payments. While their trucks charge, drivers can enjoy a range of amenities including a café, 24/7 toilets, showers, and guarded parking.
Euan Moir, Head of UK Fleet Solutions, says:
“The future of commercial road transport will look mostly electric. That electric future is already coming to fruition in the UK. Providing a seamless charging experience for drivers at Shell Markham Moor is another step in helping transport companies continue to operate efficiently during the energy transition.”
