Electric performance meets iconic design in the Renault 5 Turbo 3E

Renault already shook up the automotive world with its universally adored new electric 5. But it’s not done there. The Renault 5 Turbo 3E is an electric version of the legendary 1980s Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2.
The 5 Turbo 3E is a true mini-supercar. It’s compact, coming in at just over 4 meters long, but it packs a punch. Powered by 540 hp from rear-mounted in-wheel motors, this electric car can go from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds. With a top speed of 270 km/h, it’s troubling supercars for their stats.
Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of the Renault brand, commented:
“By creating the new category of electric ‘mini-supercars’ with the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, the Renault brand once again demonstrates the passion and spirit of boldness and innovation that has always driven it. This exuberant, over-excited model promises the best performance and sensations in just 4 meters of length, which is unprecedented in the market. With this car, Renault continues to make electric vehicles ever more desirable, further extending its ability to provide solutions for every need and every desire.”

One of the electric standouts is the car’s charging capabilities. Thanks to its 800-volt architecture, the 5 Turbo 3E can charge from 15% to 80% in just 15 minutes using DC fast charging. This means less waiting and more driving. It also offers a range of over 400 km on a full charge.
The design merges the past and present, drawing inspiration from the original Renault 5 Turbo, with square headlights, sleek lines, and a large rear wing. Yet, it also features modern touches like aerodynamic tweaks and LED lighting.
Inside, the 5 Turbo 3E is all about performance. It has bucket seats, a vertical handbrake. The cockpit features two large digital screens for driving, navigation, and media. It’s also fully connected, with Google services built-in. Fats, and comparatively lightweight by EV standards, but missing none of the mod-cons.
Renault is producing just 1,980 units, a nod to the year the original Renault 5 Turbo was launched. Deliveries will begin in 2027, and reservations will open soon.
