- EV LIVE at Blenheim Palace is taking place between 13 – 15 September, offering you the opportunity to test drive a wealth of the latest and most innovative electric cars, such as the Polestar 4.
- Alongside the Polestar 2 and 3, the soon-to-be-released Polestar 4 will also be available to test out throughout the three days of the event.
- The Polestar 4 is positioned as the brand’s performance SUV-coupe, and is a revolutionary move from the manufacturer, being the first mass-production passenger car to do away with a rear-window, in favour of a rear camera setup – all in the name of safety, aerodynamics, and of course, its striking look.
Test drive the Polestar 4 at this year’s EV LIVE
The Polestar 4, revealed back in 2023, is aimed as a premium lifestyle EV, blending both performance and high levels of practicality – all wrapped up in a coupe-cum-SUV shape, which in dual-motor spec, is the fastest car released from the brand yet. That makes it the perfect option for those who need the space to ferry a family about, but still want high levels of luxury, and performance credentials that can still scare the best electric sports cars.
It quickly gained fame upon its reveal thanks to the conventional rear view mirror being swapped out for a high-definition rear camera, positioned where the rear window would be – which also helped it win the 2023 Production Car Design of the Year. This camera is relayed to a screen placed where the rear view mirror would traditionally be. Not only did this setup allow Polestar to give the 4 its sleek appearance, maximising both aerodynamics and rear seat headroom, but it also helps benefit safety.
The camera offers a wider panoramic view than a conventional mirror, helping to eliminate blind spots, and offers a clearer view at night, eliminating headlight glare. Whilst peering into the rear seats and seeing no rear window is puzzling at first glance, after a few minutes on the road, the setup becomes second nature, and you completely forget about that lack of glass.
The Polestar 4 is available in two motor configurations: The first a single motor setup, with 268hp delivering 0-60mph in 6.9 seconds, along with a range capability of 385 miles. The other is a dual-motor, 536hp setup, with a drastically reduced 0-60mph time of 3.7 seconds – while still offering a similar range of 367 miles. That’s all while still being able to comfortably seat a family of five, along with a sizable 526 litre boot.
Order books for the 4 are already open in the UK, with prices starting at £59,990, and first deliveries by September. Of course, the best way to experience Polestar’s latest creation, and the benefits of a rear camera setup over a traditional rear view mirror, is to see it in action for yourself.
