Polestar 3 Single motor certified with segment-leading 438 mile range

  • Swedish EV manufacturer, Polestar, has added a new entry-level option to its Polestar 3 range, with the addition of a long range, single motor variant, which makes it both the longest range Polestar 3 and longest range Polestar model available.
  • The new model was recently certified under WLTP testing, giving it an official range of up to 438 miles.
  • With 300 miles already the standard for many EVs, and several others beginning to crack the 400 mile barrier, range anxiety is fast becoming a thing of the past.

New Polestar 3 option delivers 438 miles between charges

This single motor option will also be the most affordable Polestar 3 on the market, with UK prices starting at £69,900. For reference, the Long range Dual motor starts at £75,900, but delivers a relatively lower rated range of 392 miles. Both models use the same 111kWh battery pack, but the single motor model’s reduced power consumption gives it the edge on range.

The firm says that this figure also makes it the longest range EV in its class. Indeed, rivals like the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV manage up to 376 miles, while the BMW iX can manage up to 382 miles.

This 438 mile range available on the entry-level 3, combined with a rapid charge speed of up to 250kW, delivering a 10-80% charge in 30 minutes, gives it some serious mile-munching credentials – particularly when paired with a rapidly growing public charging network. With this new increased range, the Polestar 3 can definitely be considered as one of the longest range EVs on the market.

Matt Galvin, Polestar’s UK Managing Director, commented:

“Range anxiety is officially a thing of the past, with all our performance EVs offering over 300 miles (WLTP). This new variant of Polestar 3 not only delivers class-leading range but offers all the luxury features and comfort our customers have come to expect from the brand, combined with the added convenience of fast charging. We look forward to commencing test drives in the new year.”
