Battery range on new EVs is continuously improving. Whilst 200 miles was previously seen as the minimum standard for electric cars, a range of over 300 miles on an EV is quickly becoming an industry standard on more expensive models. Many electric cars now match their petrol and diesel equivalents when it comes to range. Combine that fact with the growing number of ultra-rapid chargepoints on the public charging network, along with the silent ride that EVs offer, and long range EVs are seriously capable mile munchers, as real-world EV road trip tests continue to prove.
With manufacturers like Hyundai, Toyota, and Stellantis all poised to bring solid state battery-based EVs to the market by the end of the decade, the next few years are looking even more promising for those looking for the farthest range electric car.
Here are some of the longest range electric cars available right now that bust the idea of range anxiety, coming from a number of price points and segments:
Audi A6 e-tron – Mercedes-Benz EQS – MG4 – Lucid Air – Volkswagen ID.7 – Coming Soon
Audi A6 e-tron

The Audi A6 e-tron has only recently hit the market, but is already a strong contender for one of the best long range electric cars. In sportback form, it exists as the most aerodynamic car ever produced by the firm, with a drag coefficient of just 0.21Cd – topping its rival, the BMW i5’s, drag coefficient of 0.23Cd.
In ‘e-tron performance’ form, equipped with the larger 100kWh battery pack, the A6 e-tron boasts an impressive WLTP rated range of 463 miles – helped by both the aerodynamics and impressive efficiency of 4.5 miles per kWh. Despite that efficiency, it’s also no slouch, with a 381 horsepower electric motor. Cars like the A6 e-tron demonstrate the way EVs can switch between both power and efficiency in a way that their ICE counterparts struggle to hold a candle to.

Coming soon: Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric

Though it won’t be arriving until next year, the CLA will arrive with the option of an all-electric powertrain for the first time, and will be the first of several new ‘entry-luxury’ Mercedes-Benz EVs to arrive on its new ‘Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture’ (MMA) platform. This has the potential to be one of the longest range electric cars on the market, as this platform has delivered a range of over 750 kilometres (466 miles) in concept form.
