Battery range on new EVs is continuously improving. Whilst 200 miles was previously seen as the minimum standard for electric cars, 300-plus mile EVs are quickly becoming an industry standard. Combine that with the growing number of ultra-rapid chargepoints on the public charging network, along with the silent ride that EVs offer, and long range EVs are seriously capable mile munchers.
Plus, with manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis exploring solid state battery technology, with the ability to deliver even higher range figures, this list is one to watch in the coming years.
Here are some of the longest range electric cars available right now, from a number of price points and segments:
Tesla Model Y Long Range
The Model Y is already the best selling car in Europe, with Tesla recently making it an even more attractive offer by boosting the range on the most affordable Model Y. For £46,990, this offers up a range of up to 373 miles between charges, making it one of the most energy efficient EVs on the market.
We recently tested one out for a week, and whilst we didn’t quite achieve that 373 mile figure, it still exists as an EV that proves range anxiety is a thing of the past.

Mercedes EQS 450+ Saloon
The clue is right there in the name: Mercedes’ flagship luxury electric car offers up to 452 miles of range between charges. That eclipses its premium rivals, and makes it one of longest range electric cars you can buy right now – that is, until the Lucid Air hits our shores.
This comes from a hefty 120kWh battery pack, which also comes with 200kW rapid charging capabilities. So when it does eventually run out, you’ll be back on the road in no time if you’re on an ultra-rapid chargepoint, going from 10-80% in 31 minutes.
The EQS is the electric replacement for the brand’s long-established S Class, with all the luxury you’d expect from a triple-figure Mercedes. Think swathes of leather, wooden trim, and more technology than you can shake a stick at.

Quoted range | 452 miles miles |
Power | 360 horsepower |
Maximum charging speed | 200kW |
MG4 EV Trophy Extended Range
The MG4 continues to be one of the best options when it comes to its price per mile of range. While the entry-level MG4 is one of the most affordable electric hatchbacks on the market, the highest-end MG4 you can buy, the ‘Trophy Extended Range’, offers an impressive quoted range of 323 miles, at a price of £36,495.
Starting price | £36,495 |
Quoted range | 323 miles |
Power | 241 horsepower |

Volkswagen ID.7 Pro S
Volkswagen’s flagship electric saloon, the ID.7, has also proven itself as a long range hero. In Pro S configuration, the ID.7 already has an impressive quoted range from Volkswagen of 436 miles. However, in a recent hypermiling test, a driver managed to exceed that number – travelling 493 miles on a single charge, driving in a 50 mile loop around the Swiss city of Zurich.
Starting price | £55,450 |
Quoted range | 436 miles |
Power | 281 horsepower |
Maximum charging speed | 200kW |
Coming soon: Mercedes CLA Electric
Though it won’t be arriving until next year, the CLA will arrive with the option of an all-electric powertrain for the first time, and will be the first of several new ‘entry-luxury’ Mercedes-Benz EVs to arrive on its new ‘Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture’ (MMA) platform. This has the potential to be one of the longest range electric cars on the market, as this platform has delivered a range of over 750 kilometres (466 miles) in concept form.
