  • UK CPO Osprey Charging has opened a new ultra-rapid charging hub in Paisley, located strategically close to the M8 motorway and Glasgow airport.
  • Consisting of 16 ultra-rapid chargers capable of charging speeds of up to 300kW, the new hub becomes another key piece of infrastructure within Scotland’s charging network.
  • The new hub was opened by Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Fiona Hyslop.

Osprey Charging opens new 16-bay ultra-rapid charging station

With all-hours access to the new charging station, this new hub is now the largest 24/7 public charging site in Scotland. With the 300kW charging power available, drivers will be able to add around 100 miles of range in as little as 10 minutes, depending on the EV in question.

Scotland is consistently taking the spot as one of the best places in the UK for EV charging, with the largest number of public chargers per head outside of London. This new development adds to a number of EV charging-related milestones in Scotland this year, including the rollout of 400kW Fastned chargers in West Scotland, and the inauguration of new CPO Source, with Edinburgh chosen as the location for its first hub.

The new hub exists as part of Osprey Charging’s strategy to open rapid charging infrastructure right across Scotland, including in more rural areas such as Wick and John O’Groats.

Ian Johnston, CEO of Osprey Charging, commented:

“We’re proud of this carefully designed site located in Paisley at the heart of a busy retail area. By purchasing the land we were able to create a bespoke layout specifically for EV charging that maximises space and ease of use, learning from the success of our Award-winning Salmon’s Leap super-hub in Devon. The hub’s 16 super-fast, super-reliable charge points is the new normal for Osprey – and we’re building these large convenient hubs all over Great Britain.”

Fiona Hyslop, Scotland Transport Secretary, added:

“I’m delighted to open Osprey’s new ultra-rapid charging hub near Glasgow Airport — now the largest 24/7 public electric vehicle charging site in Scotland. Not only is this sort of private sector investment exactly what we need to see to support our vision for public EV charging, it’s in a prime location offering high-powered EV charging to fleets, taxis and everyday drivers travelling around Glasgow and to and from the airport.”
