- Asset management firm Legal & General (L&G), which owns retail and leisure parks across the UK, has, with advice from advisors Knight Frank, chosen UK CPO Osprey Charging to deliver ultra-rapid charging hubs at six of L&G’s sites from its ReAssure portfolio.
- The six sites are located across England, ranging from the South East of the country to the North West.
- In total, the sites will add another 72 ultra-rapid chargers to the UK’s public charging infrastructure.
Osprey Charging chosen to deliver ultra-rapid charging at L&G sites
One site, at a retail park in Stoke-on-Trent, has already gone live, while two more ultra-rapid hubs under the agreement are already under construction in the south of the country: one at Highbridge Retail Park in Essex, just off the M25, and one at Woodside Leisure Park in Watford, located close to the M1. These two locations’ proximity to major motorways is likely to make them a popular choice for EV drivers throughout the UK.
Osprey Charging and L&G’s announcement is not the only significant investment announced into the UK’s public charging infrastructure this week. Earlier in the week, E.ON Drive Infrastructure announced the addition of 42 ultra-rapid chargers across Scotland, spread across six specific hubs.
Andrew Nosworthy, Commercial Director at Osprey Charging, commented:
“We’re proud to work with L&G’s ReAssure portfolio, providing the ultra-rapid charging infrastructure that is crucial for the UK’s expanding EV market. By installing reliable, high-powered charging hubs, we’re making EV ownership more convenient and accessible for drivers across the country, whilst making these excellent retail parks even more attractive to tenants and customers. With over 1,300 charging bays, we are the UK’s third largest open rapid charging network and committed to further expansion with high quality landowners like L&G.”
David Goatman, Partner, Department Head, Global Head of Energy and Sustainability at Knight Frank, added:
“We are delighted to have advised Legal and General on this successful rapid EV charging partner selection. This kind of innovative procurement process will help to deliver crucial low carbon infrastructure across the portfolio and add to the on-site amenity offer for occupiers.”
