Ohme offers EV charging tariff for less than £10 per month as energy prices fall
EV drivers could soon see their charging costs drop to less than £10 a month. Ohme, the UK’s largest dynamic smart charging company, is leading this charge. Starting from July 1st, electricity prices will fall, however, even greater savings are possible with Ohme’s smart EV tariffs.
The Standard Variable Tariff will decrease to 22.4p/kWh, the lowest in nearly two years.
This reduction allows EV drivers to save more when charging at home. Yet, a smart EV tariff like Intelligent Octopus Go could bring typical monthly costs down to just £9.92.
Ohme’s dynamic smart chargers connect with the grid in real-time. They automatically adjust to optimise the cost of charging, accessing the smartest, greenest, and cheapest energy tariffs available.
David Watson, CEO of Ohme, commented:
“This latest reduction in the price of electricity will be welcome news for drivers of EVs. However, they could easily lower those bills further by finding out if their electricity supplier offers a special tariff for EV drivers. If not, then they should consider switching to an energy provider that does to enjoy even greater savings when running an EV.”
Charging an EV on the new Standard Variable Tariff for an average annual mileage of 6,800 miles would cost £382.50. But with a smart EV tariff like Intelligent Octopus Go, this cost drops to just £119. For comparison, the same distance in a petrol car would cost over £1,100.
Ohme has been growing rapidly, with partnerships in Ireland, Germany, and around Europe. Offers like this explain the tendency for large companies to couple with the charging provider. Smart tariffs are the way forward, and prices like these are assisting the industry’s challenge to battle EV price parity.
