- Nissan has confirmed UK pricing for its sixth-generation Nissan Micra, the first electric-only iteration of its popular supermini.
- Built on the same AmpR Small EV platform as the Renault 5 E-Tech, Nissan’s announcement confirms that the Micra also shares the same entry-level price tag – with prices starting at an identical £22,995.
- The pricing puts the Micra in the running to become one of the best cheap electric cars on sale.
Nissan Micra EV starting price to mirror the Renault 5
Pricing will start from £22,995, granting customers the 40kWh battery and ‘Engage’ trim level combination. Starting prices rise to a maximum of £29,865 before options, for the top of the range ‘Evolve’ trim level with the longer-range 52kWh battery pack.
Across its various trim and battery combinations, the Micra’s UK pricing essentially mirrors that of an equivalent Renault 5, giving consumers a key decision to pick between the two. Both cars operate on the same AmpR Small EV platform, roll out the same car plant in Douai, France, and offer near-identical levels of performance and kit.
Looking into the near future, the Nissan Micra could become an even more affordable EV for UK buyers. Whilst the Micra is yet to be officially confirmed as eligible for the Electric Car Grant, Nissan themselves ‘expect’ the car to qualify for the lower-band £1,500 grant, pending confirmation. This would bring the cheapest Micra EV down to £21,495, making it an even more competitive option on the affordable EV market.
