Nissan extends its Silence partnership to bring innovative Nanocars and electric motorcycles to the UK

Nissan has extended its partnership with ACCIONA’s Silence to bring its electric micro-mobility vehicles to the UK. Starting October 2024, Nissan will serve as the exclusive UK distributor for Silence’s Nano S04 quadricycles and electric motorcycles.

This partnership expands Nissan’s reach into the UK market, following successful product launches in France, Italy, and Germany. The company’s UK distribution strategy for Silence products is currently under review.

Gareth Dunsmore, Managing Director of e-Micro Mobility at Nissan AMIEO, commented:

“Following Italy, France and Germany, I am excited to see our partnership now expanding to the UK. Through this Nissan partnership with ACCIONA, we’re ensuring that many more people across Europe have access to electric mobility and can embark on their EV journey. By opening access to Silence’s diverse range of alternative products, we are easing the EV transition by combining clean mobility with cutting-edge technology, in functional and flexible vehicles.”

Gareth spoke at the EV SUMMIT earlier this week, where he outlined Nissan’s upcoming strategies, including its moves into the micro-mobility market.

This alliance is part of Nissan’s broader business initiative, The Arc, which is driving growth and competitiveness. The Arc will introduce 11 new vehicle models and a series of strategic partnerships designed to electrify Nissan’s future prospects. The collaboration with Silence is a key component of this strategy.

The Silence S04 Nanocar is available in two variants—the L6e and L7e. The L6e variant provides a range of 109 miles with a top speed of 28mph. Meanwhile, the L7e delivers 92 miles of range and can reach speeds of 54mph. Both models are equipped with dual 5.6kWh batteries. These batteries support direct charging, battery swapping, and home or office recharging.

Additionally, the S04 Nanocar features the My Silence app, enhancing user experience with keyless entry, location tracking, and battery monitoring. The app also facilitates vehicle sharing among friends, which could considerably extend the reach of emobility in urban areas, with a far lower upfront cost.

Carlos Sotelo, CEO of ACCIONA’s mobility division and Silence, said:

“The needs of drivers in today’s towns and cities are changing – their commute, their attitudes to mobility, and what constitutes a realistic and efficient way for them to get around urban areas. To respond to this, we need to think smarter, smaller and lighter. Silence’s light electric vehicles (EV), partnered with Nissan’s strong distribution network, offers new, exciting, and clever options for urban mobility in Europe, shaping a more sustainable future.”

This partnership extends Nissan’s electrification efforts, and supports the spread of diverse emobility in the UK. These nanocars could change urban mobility for good, reducing congestion and pollution in one fell swoop.
