Swytch launches new DIY e-bike kit at just £299

Swytch, known for its “most affordable” e-bike conversion kits, just unveiled its latest model: the Swytch GO. The UK-based company is offering the new kit at a pre-order price of £299 ($349). But there is a waitlist – unless you’re prepared to pay double for immediate delivery.

Swytch has faced overwhelming demand during past releases, so this waitlist approach might help smooth production and manage the initial rush. The company’s popularity stems from its ultra-affordable entry price, sleek design, and easy installation. With over 85,000 kits already on the road, DIY electric bike conversions remain as popular as ever.

Swytch’s CEO, Oliver Montague, commented:

“This is an exciting time for Swytch. Consumers are looking for more affordable and sustainable transport options, and the Swytch GO Kit is the ideal solution. Installation has also never been easier, so anyone can enjoy the benefits that electric bikes have to offer.”

The new Swytch GO kit keeps the 250W front motor unchanged but introduces a velcro-mounted GO battery for versatile mounting options. Unlike the previous Air battery, which attaches to the handlebars, the GO battery can be placed inside the front triangle, making it compatible with more bike styles. The Air battery remains available as an alternative.

The GO battery comes in three versions: GO, GO+, and GO++, offering 15 to 60 miles (25-100 km) of pedal-assist range. While the Air battery was pocket-sized, the GO batteries remain compact and can be tucked into a bag to prevent theft.

Weighing between 2-2.6 kg (4.5-5.7 lb), the GO batteries are lightweight and easy to handle. They’re IPX6 rated for all-weather riding and UL certified for safety.

The Swytch GO kit, with its 250W front hub motor, is tailored for pedal-assist enthusiasts. However, for those who prefer throttle control, an optional hand throttle is available as an accessory. It can be added to the kit (where permitted by law) to provide power on demand without the need to pedal.

Swytch’s latest offering sets a new standard in affordable electric bike conversions. With over 85,000 kits already in use, it continues to lead the way in DIY electric bike conversions, providing consumers with a sustainable and accessible alternative for urban commuting.
