PE powers EV charging expansion at Michels & Taylor hotels across the UK

The UK’s largest independent energy supplier, PE, has teamed up with hotel management company Michels & Taylor (M&T) to launch a new EV charging network. The chargers are being rolled out across M&T’s UK-managed hotel portfolio.
This move is part of M&T’s ongoing commitment to energy efficiency. So far, their efforts have already reduced carbon emissions by over 1,000 tonnes of CO₂ in the past five years.
Nathan Daniels, Head of EV Charging at PE, commented:
“With EV adoption on the rise, and some tough public EV charging targets to hit across the UK over the next five years – these installations have been widely welcomed.
More drivers than ever are considering the availability of charging facilities when they travel – with many simply choosing not to stay at a hotel without onsite EV charge points. Having the right provisions in place is essential to meet customer expectations as we all make changes to support a more sustainable future.
Partnerships like this are vital to expanding our network of fast charging and making EV travel more reliable and accessible to drivers across the country and they also support a greener future – a factor that’s becoming increasingly important for hotels and all businesses and the customers they serve.”
Three hotel sites already have chargers up and running: Hilton Bournemouth, DoubleTree by Hilton Elstree, and DoubleTree by Hilton Stoke-on-Trent. Hilton Bournemouth is now home to the largest EV charging facility in the seaside town. Six more hotels are scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.
Each site features PE Duo chargers with twin sockets. They offer up to 22kW charging power for two cars at once. Drivers don’t need an app—just tap, charge, and go. On average, users can add 50 miles of range in one hour, depending on their vehicle.

The cost is competitive. PE’s national rate is 57p per kWh, which is 29% cheaper than the UK average of 80p.
Peter Hales, Managing Director at M&T said:
“The introduction of easy to access EV charging stations not only supports our sustainability goals, but it also adds great value to our clients and hotel guests. While charging, both hotel guests and local visitors can take advantage of on-site restaurants and leisure amenities.
ESG criteria are as critical for the planet as they are complex to navigate, and with operational costs on the rise, hoteliers are under increased pressure. We have invested significantly in streamlining efficiencies across our managed properties, and every hotel in our portfolio has access to the expertise, data and tools they need to contribute positively to the planet while significantly helping the profitability of the bottom line.”
This isn’t the first hotel chain to embrace EV charging. Kew Green Hotels has partnered with PoGo Charge to install EV charging hubs at 40 of its UK hotels. Those include Holiday Inn and Courtyard by Marriott brands. This collaboration is adding 200 charging stations across the UK by the end of 2025. It’s fast, convenient, and effective network expansion.
Demand for EVs is growing fast. Sales have stayed strong in 2025 so far, and the requirement for better, faster, and more convenient charging is only ever increasing. These hotel deals are future-proofing our destinations for electric travellers. It’s making electric journeys easier than ever.
