- Electric truck CPO, Milence, a joint venture between Daimler Truck, TRATON, and Volvo Group, will build 70 more charging hubs across Europe by 2025, as announced at Hannover’s IAA Transportation.
- The hubs, some of which are already under construction, and three of which are already in operation, will deliver a total of 570 individual high-power chargepoints.
- The highest number of these hubs, 25, will be built in Germany.
Large expansion plans for Milence’s European charging network
All of these hubs are expected to open in 2025 at the latest, with the locations covering ten key European territories: Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden, the UK, and The Netherlands. Once construction of all these locations is completed, Milence say that this will mean key haulage routes, such as Paris to port city Le Havre, and Munich to Berlin, will be fully electrified, allowing for even more seamless adoption of electric trucks on such routes.
These additions will contribute to Milence’s goal of 1,700 high-power chargepoints across Europe, by 2027. Alongside the announcement, Milence published a map, showing the specific locations of existing and planned charging hubs.
Anja van Niersen, CEO of Milence, commented:
“The future of road transport is electric, and we are proud to be leading the way with our fast growing charging network and show that it can be a reality today. Now is the time to act and we call on all stakeholders to make infrastructure a priority. By accelerating technological advancement and electrifying the major transport routes across Europe we make it easier for fleets to transition to zero-emission vehicles. Our mission is not only to power trucks but also to support drivers, enabling them to recharge in a safe environment while driving a more sustainable future for road transport.”
The announcement, coming out of IAA Transportation, also comes as a wealth of commercial vehicle manufacturers announced their EV plans. MAN Trucks, for example, now offer an electrified variant of every truck in its portfolio, whilst BYD is also expanding its European electric cargo offerings, with two new EVs revealed at the event.
