- Public electric truck charging provider Milence is continuing its expansion of European infrastructure, opening three new public charging hubs in Germany.
- One of the three new hubs, in Recklinghausen, marks the first Milence hub to arrive in Germany’s Ruhr region, helping to make electric HGV travel feasible between the North Sea ports of Rotterdam, Netherlands and Antwerp, Belgium, to Hannover, Berlin, and even Poland.
- Milence continues to open publicly accessible electric truck charging infrastructure right across crucial European transport corridors, helping to drive eHGV adoption.
Milence’s electric truck charging expansion continues
With the new hubs opening in Recklinghausen, Koblenz between Cologne and Frankfurt, and Kirchberg an der Jagst in the South of Germany, Milence now has five truck charging locations live in the country. Each of the three new hubs will have at least six CCS chargers, with maximum charging speeds of 400kW. The Megawatt Charging System, which Milence has began rolling out at other sites, will be integrated into these hubs in the future.
By the end of the year, Milence is hoping for Germany to be one of its biggest markets, with the number of hubs in Germany set to grow to eight. Germany already exists as the biggest buyer of zero-emission HGVs in Europe, with around 1,200 zero-emission heavy trucks sold in 2024, according to the International Council on Clean Transportation.
Anja van Niersen, Milence CEO, commented:
“Germany is the heart and central hub of European road freight transport. Today’s opening of our hub in Recklinghausen marks an important milestone in closing infrastructure gaps for e-mobility in western Germany.”
Mona Neubaur, North Rhine-Westphalia Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, added:
“With the first charging hub for electric trucks in North Rhine-Westphalia, we are taking a major step towards climate-friendly freight transport. Here, electric trucks can be charged with clean electricity, helping protect the environment and reduce noise in our cities and communities. One thing is clear: the future of logistics is electric. That’s why we are actively supporting this transition – for better climate protection, a strong and competitive economy, and a future-ready North Rhine-Westphalia.”
Both last year and 2025 have seen Milence achieve significant growth, with over 25 hubs across Europe, totalling over 180 individual charge points. So far this year, it’s achieved a number of firsts, including its first truck charging hub in the UK, and its first in Italy. By the end of the year, Milence hopes to have over 30 charging hubs live across nine separate European countries.
