- Heavy vehicle CPO, Milence, has began its expansion across the Nordic region, after its first heavy duty electric vehicle charging hub opened in Varberg, Sweden.
- Strategically located off one of Sweden’s major motorways, it will help further enable electric truck transport between the cities of Gothenburg and Malmo.
- The charging hub is the fourth charging hub from Milence to go live, and the first to go live in Sweden – with another 10 either planned or already under construction in the country, with two of these Swedish hubs set to be finished before the end of the year.
Milence’s fourth charging station goes online
The new opening means Milence is now operating in four countries. It has installed stations in France, The Netherlands, and the port of Antwerp-Bruges earlier this year. Elsewhere in the Nordics, two Milence stations in Denmark are also planned, though the CPO has not confirmed any locations planned for Norway or Finland yet. This specific site initially packs eight charging bays, alongside four CCS charge points, with each able to provide 400kW of power. Throughout 2025, more bays will be added, along with Megawatt chargers – capable of providing even higher levels of power, and seen as crucial to enabling electric cargo transportation.
Expect the opening of further Milence charging sites across Europe to come in thick and fast over the next couple of months, as the CPO is aiming to have 70 electric truck charging hubs live across the continent by the end of 2025. Other countries with Milence charging hubs planned or under construction include the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium, and Poland. Once these hubs are online, the ability of European haulage firms to transition to EV will become even more feasible.
Anja van Niersen, CEO of Milence, commented:
“Sweden is one of the leading countries in Europe when it comes to sustainability and energy transition, where electric road transport is a reality today. With 10 charging hubs under development and 3 to open by the end of the year, this is one of our key markets and fleet operators can now start using the Milence network. This is possible thanks to the support we receive from all the relevant stakeholders in the market, for which we are very grateful, and we are happy that our hub openings are becoming a platform for exchange and cooperation”.
