- In a surprise reveal at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, MG revealed a concept car called the Cyber GTS.
- Looking very similar to the production Cyberster, the Cyber GTS does away with the canvas roof in favour of a fixed hardtop, also granting an extra two seats in the back.
- Whilst MG haven’t confirmed whether the Cyber GTS will make production, its debut at the Festival of Speed is likely a way for the OEM to gauge consumer interest in whether making the concept into reality will be feasible.
A more hardcore take on the MG Cyberster
Both the front and rear of the car borrow design elements from the Cyberster, but the sleek, blacked out roofline gives the Cyber GTS away as a coupe take on its convertible sibling. The concept revealed at Goodwood was just a rolling shell, so any changes on the interior weren’t revealed. However, MG note that the Cyber GTS is designed as a four seater, also granting more practicality in lieu of a folding roof.
With the Cyber GTS yet to be confirmed as something that’ll make it into production, no specifications or pricing have been revealed, with MG simply noting that the concept ‘explores the further potential for MG creating a new future for a GTS model in the EV era’. However, with its distinct similarity to the Cyberster, use of the same motor and battery setups would be likely. For reference, in dual motor form, the Cyberster packs 503 hp, granting it a 0-62mph sprint of 3.2 seconds, and a top speed of 125mph. With the lack of a convertible mechanism, this concept could be more lightweight, improving those figures, whilst increased rigidity from a fixed roof could make it even more capable in the bends.
