Mer’s eco-friendly EV charging solutions are spreading across TecAlliance’s Weikersheim site in Germany

TecAlliance is making strides towards sustainability with the help of Mer Germany, implementing eco-friendly charging solutions at their Weikersheim site. This initiative features new charging points powered by an innovative photovoltaic (PV) system and recycled battery storage.

The partnership, aimed at achieving CO2 neutrality by 2030, leverages Mer Germany’s expertise in holistic charging solutions. Following a successful project at TecAlliance’s Cologne site in 2022, Mer Germany handled the planning, installation, and maintenance of the new Weikersheim infrastructure.

Xaver Steigerwald, Team Lead eeCharging at Mer, commented:

“We are delighted that TecAlliance has once again placed its trust in us to accompany them on their ambitious path to climate neutrality.

It is particularly gratifying when customers are so interested and committed to making real changes to their company fleet. We are happy to support this with our charging solutions and thus help to implement sustainable mobility concepts that make both ecological and economic sense.”

Employees at Weikersheim now benefit from 25 new charging points. These stations are powered by the company’s PV system, installed on car park roofs, generating 202 kWh of solar energy. An additional 512 kWh capacity battery storage ensures consistent charging, even when sunlight is insufficient. Notably, the battery storage utilises recycled electric car batteries and can be expanded if needed.

This green energy solution is delivering significant economic benefits. TecAlliance reports an 80% reduction in energy costs due to the PV integration.

Dimitri Boger, Lead Facility Management at TecAlliance in Weikersheim, shared excitement:

“Thanks to the PV integration, we now have an energy solution that not only affects our overall CO2 footprint, but also has a very positive economic impact: We save around 80 percent of our current energy costs.

Mer offered us a holistic charging solution that took a lot of pressure off us as a company and always made every effort to find a special solution even when problems suddenly arose.”

Mer Germany’s comprehensive service also includes installing home charging solutions for employees and providing on-the-go charging options. They manage all aspects, from installation to maintenance and billing.

Mer Germany and TecAlliance’s ongoing work is helping to boost emobility for employees across the nation. The eco-friendly, holistic approach is a guiding light for the future of charging infrastructure.
