Kwik Trip launches first ‘Kwik Charge’ EV fast charging station in Wisconsin
Kwik Trip, Inc. has officially opened its first ‘Kwik Charge’ branded fast charging station in West Salem, Wisconsin. The chain is popular in the Midwest, with nearly 900 locations across six states. Most of these are in Wisconsin and Minnesota, areas that currently have limited fast-charging options.
The company recently received 24 NEVI awards in Wisconsin. With that funding, it has already started building stations in West Salem and Ashland, WI. Kwik Trip is moving quickly to establish its “Kwik Charge” brand and meet growing EV demand across the US.
The new chargers offer competitive pricing. At launch, the cost is $0.45 per kWh—10-20% below the national average for DC fast charging. The stations also include CCS1 and J3400 (NACS) connectors. This means most EV drivers won’t need adapters, a big convenience for those travelling long distances.
As public fast charging expands, long trips across Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula will become much easier. This is great news for EV drivers across the US and the country’s increasingly substantial and profitable EV industry.
