Germany’s charging network grows with new Mer station in Künzelsau
Mer Germany continues its rapid expansion with a new fast-charging park in Künzelsau, Baden-Württemberg. The installation is part of the Deutschlandnetz, a national effort to expand fast-charging infrastructure. The site features eight charging points with power levels of up to 400 kW.

Mayor of Künzelsau, Stefan Neumann, celebrated the installation:
“With the opening of these new fast-charging stations in Wertwiesen, we are taking another important step towards sustainable mobility. We are sending a clear signal for a climate-friendly Künzelsau, a modern infrastructure, and contributing to the energy transition through the use of renewable energies, from which our residents and visitors alike will benefit.”
The charging park offers barrier-free access and a dedicated space for larger vehicles. Nearby sanitary facilities, a tyre inflation station, and a vacuum cleaner add to the comfort of users.
The site itself is sustainable. A wooden canopy provides shelter while supporting an integrated photovoltaic (PV) system. This system generates renewable energy for site operations, with any excess power feeding into the local grid.
Otto Loserth, Managing Director of Mer Germany, commented:
“Our newest charging park in Künzelsau demonstrates how modern technology and sustainability can be optimally combined. With the sustainable wooden canopy and the integration of a photovoltaic system, we are ensuring an environmentally friendly yet functional charging infrastructure. This not only strengthens the regional charging network but also makes an important contribution to the development of a comprehensive and sustainable e-mobility landscape in Germany.”

Dr. Volker Wissing, Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, explained:
“Anyone travelling with an electric car will soon find an ultra-fast charging station everywhere. With the Deutschlandnetz, we are investing in the charging parks of the future. I am pleased that Mer is opening a state-of-the-art Deutschlandnetz charging location in Künzelsau today, which will benefit electric vehicle drivers throughout the region. The new charging park is yet another reason to switch to climate-friendly e-mobility and further expands and strengthens the charging network in Germany.”
With 24/7 availability, ultra-fast charging, and green energy pulsing through its veins, the new site is making emobility even more practical for drivers across the region. Meanwhile, the Deutschlandnetz is an incredible national initiative, the likes of which are being diligently installed the world over.
