Kia EV2 revealed: A compact EV with up to 278 miles of range

Kia reveals its most affordable EV yet, the Kia EV2, a compact electric SUV going head-to-head against rivals such as the Renault 4.
  • The Kia EV2 has been revealed at Brussels Motor Show, which now marks the most affordable entry in Kia’s EV portfolio.
  • With prices expected to start at under £25,000, this compact electric SUV will directly compete with EVs such as the Renault 4 and the upcoming Skoda Epiq.
  • The EV2 will be built in Slovakia, marking another win for Europe’s home EV industry, and becomes the second Kia EV to be manufactured in Europe alongside the EV4.

Kia EV2 revealed as the cheapest Kia EV yet

Adding to the growing roster of cheap and affordable electric cars, the new Kia EV2 represents the manufacturer reaching out to an even wider EV audience. Kia hasn’t confirmed exact pricing, but notes that it will be the ‘most accessible’ entry in its EV lineup. The Kia EV3 (at £32,995) was previously the most affordable Kia EV offered in Europe, so we can reliably expect the Kia EV2 to start at or below £25,000, matching the price of similar sized rivals already on the market.

Despite its entry-level position, the EV2 remains a stylish looking EV, which looks impressively similar to the original EV2 concept revealed back in early 2025. Kia has used upright design cues to give the model the look of a much larger SUV – despite its small dimensions, at around 4 metres in length. This could also allow the EV2 to qualify for the European Union’s proposed M1E small EV classification, potentially bringing more purchase incentives to the EV2.

The Kia EV2 will be available with two battery options. A 42.2kWh battery pack is fitted as standard, offering a claimed range of 196 miles, whilst buyers will also be able to specify a long-range 61kWh battery pack. This pack gives an increased range of 278 miles. Much like more expensive Kia EVs, the EV2 will also support V2L and V2G technologies, helping the model to play a key role in the energy ecosystem of the future.
