- Kia’s in-house EV charging service, Kia Charge, has passed a new milestone in Europe.
- The all-in-one charging app, which is available across 28 European territories, now has access to over 800,000 EV charging points across the continent.
- This represents an increase of 10% since the second quarter of this year, and an increase of 39% since the second quarter of 2023.
Kia Charge continues to expand its reach
Originally launched in 2021, and available to drivers of all Kia EVs, it offers drivers access to chargers across a wide number of major CPOs, such as GRIDSERVE, Ionity, bp pulse, and Osprey. With the service, all payments are undertaken by a single Kia Charge card. It’s also allowed for seamless cross-border payments, making European EV road trips that little bit easier, whilst the chargers available on the network can be accessed directly through each EV’s built-in navigation system.
Alongside this achievement, Kia also recently announced the introduction of Plug & Charge technology across its European EVs. The feature is first set to be rolled out to the EV9, before reaching other Kia EV models at a later date. Other manufacturers within Europe, such as Ford, have also begun rolling out the seamless charging tech.
Martin Enthofer, Director of Customer Experience Strategy and Solutions at Kia Europe, commented on the milestone:
“As more electric vehicles take to the road, it’s important to match this uptake with an increasing number of charging points, to help our customers easily charge their vehicles. Kia continues to set the benchmark for making electric driving more accessible to a wider range of audience, with Kia Charge helping to simplify and enhance every journey.”
