IONNA and Hubject make EV charging simpler in North America with Plug&Charge technology
EV charging is about to get easier for North American drivers. IONNA has partnered with Hubject to simplify charging across the region. The move brings Plug&Charge technology to a vast network of stations, making charging more seamless than ever.
Hubject operates the world’s largest cross-provider charging network. It connects more than 1,000,000 charging points worldwide. Over 2,500 companies already use Hubject’s technology to streamline EV charging. The company’s ISO 15118-2 Plug&Charge standard eliminates the need for apps or cards. Instead, EVs automatically authenticate at charging stations.
North America’s EV market is growing fast. By 2030, experts predict over 26 million EVs will be on American roads. However, the charging infrastructure must keep up. Today, the U.S. has around 170,000 public charging stations. That number needs to quadruple to meet future demand.
The partnership couldn’t be better timed, as IONNA sets out a massive expansion effort across the US. The company is installing over 1,000 new charging bays to meet the burgeoning EV demand.
