IONNA accelerates smarter, faster, and more accessible EV charging with expansion across the US

IONNA is moving from public beta to a full-scale national rollout. The company is backed by eight major automakers; GM, BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Toyota. This expansion comes at a crucial time, as US charging infrastructure must upgrade, and fast, to maintain its electric momentum.

Since launching in February 2024, IONNA has secured contracts for over 100 charging sites. By the end of 2025, it will have more than 1,000 new charging bays live.

IONNA is opening a Rechargery in Apex, North Carolina to celebrate its milestone. Its Rechargery locations are expanding through a partnership with Sheetz, a popular convenience store chain. Together, they are opening 50+ Rechargeries across the Midwest and Eastern U.S. by 2026.

The company also unveiled its new headquarters and Customer Experience Lab in Durham, North Carolina. These spaces will focus on innovation, testing, and improving the driver experience. The company has already begun its extensive tests. Automakers and everyday drivers completed 4,400+ charging sessions using 80+ vehicle models.

As always, tech is at the forefront. Select locations will feature Amazon-powered “Just Walk Out” convenience stores. These AI-driven shops let drivers grab snacks and essentials without waiting in line.

Looking ahead, IONNA is investing in Plug & Charge technology. This will streamline payments and vehicle integration, making charging even easier. Smart reservations, in-car payments, and AI-driven route planning are also in the works.

With 30,000 charging bays planned over five years, IONNA is shaping the future of EV travel. More chargers, smarter technology, and better service—all built in the US. The road ahead is electric, and these groundworks are paving the path forward.
