EDF offers almost two years of free electric driving with Pod Point tariff

EDF has launched a New Year offer that could save electric vehicle (EV) owners big money. Customers who sign up for the Pod Point Plug & Power tariff before January 31, 2024, will receive a £300 credit. That’s equivalent to nearly two years of free electric driving—around 12,000 miles.

Rich Hughes, Director of Retail at EDF, commented:

“We’re excited to start 2025 with big savings for drivers by offering them an even better deal on the Pod Point Plug & Power tariff. By spreading the cost of a charger over two years, we already make it easier for customers to manage typically high upfront costs. Now, with an additional £300 back upon signing up, the costs are even lower.”

The offer is open to both new and existing customers. It bundles an EV home charger with a competitive energy tariff. Customers can purchase the Pod Point Solo 3S charger for just £499 upfront. The rest of the cost is spread over two years and added to the tariff. Standard installation and a five-year warranty are included.

The tariff costs £1,383 annually for electricity only. It includes cheaper overnight rates of 8.49p per kWh between midnight and 5 am Customers must have a smart meter and opt into half-hourly readings to qualify.

This comes as Britain becomes Europe’s top electric car market, with record EV registrations. EDF hopes to encourage more people to switch to electric by making home charging more affordable.

Rich Hughes continued:

“We all know driving electric will reduce our carbon footprint, and our aim is by offering more deals like this to help customers save cash in the process, we hope it’ll encourage more drivers to make the switch.”
