Compleo Charging Solutions UK, a provider of turnkey electric vehicle (EV) charging hardware and software solutions to businesses, opened its new UK headquarters in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, this week.
The new office is part of the parent company’s, Compleo Charging Solutions AG’s European, expansion in the UK. It already has offices in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Sweden and employs 600 people.
Compleo’s UK team, which has been operating from smaller premises close to Swindon for the last three years, will mastermind the company’s rollout of innovative EV charging solutions into the fleet, hotel and public car park sectors from its newer and bigger HQ.
The location will also serve as the base for Compleo’s UK Training Academy. This is where charging point installers and network operators will be given the skills they need to deliver and use the firm’s AC and DC charging products and bespoke software services.
Valentin Scheltow, Compleo UK managing director, said: “We’re delighted to make Abingdon the new home of Compleo Charging Solutions in the UK. It’s a vibrant and friendly town that sits at the heart of Oxfordshire – a key region for science and technology development.
“The Electric Vehicle market in the UK is going from strength to strength and we’re looking to build on the excellent work we’ve done across the last three years to grow our customer portfolio even more, from a prime location in central England.”
Councillor Andy Foulsham, the Mayor of Abingdon-on-Thames, said: “Being able to welcome a company like Compleo to Abingdon is a vote of confidence in the way we’re doing things in the town, but we also see it as us welcoming an international company that has a broad reach and is playing an important role in the drive to net zero.
“The local area is a hotbed of science and engineering and a brilliant place for a high-tech business to be based. We’re delighted Compleo are here and I want to do everything I can to make it a success for them.”
Oxfordshire is a county that’s embracing a sustainable future via its Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy, and Compleo has been supporting this vision through the recent delivery of numerous EV charging projects.
Compleo has installed 33 EV chargers at the depot of Oxford Direct Services (ODS), the company that uses electric trucks to collect business waste on behalf of Oxford City Council. It has also supplied a network of motorcycle chargers to Abingdon-based Harley-Davidson as part of a pan-European rollout programme.
Oxfordshire is fast becoming an epicentre for electric vehicle technology. Compleo joins a long list of companies that call the county home, including BMW, MINI, Electric Assisted Vehicles (EAV), Everrati, Oxbotica, Prodrive, Saietta, Williams Advanced Engineering, YASA and DPD who are leading the way in sustainable deliveries in Oxford.
Plus, Oxford also recently saw the opening of Energy Superhub Oxford, Europe’s most powerful EV charging hub. It’s only fitting that the EV Summit is based in Oxford and brings all of this, and the rest of the emobility world, together.
In addition to opening its new HQ, Compleo is set to launch its ‘Compleo in the Community’ initiative later this month. To underline its commitment to Abingdon, Compleo has vowed to deliver 100 hours of voluntary service to support community projects in the area.
