The formation of better.global

Moving on after Green.TV Ade Thomas is now the founder of better.global. Through his numerous campaigns and events, Ade has become recognised as a thought leader bridging the crucial gap between industry, policy makers, and the public, when it comes to electric vehicles.

Ade has already made a positive impact on the EV industry, with such achievements set to continue through newly-formed better.global. It comes at an ever more crucial time, as numerous countries edge closer to their respective EV mandates, and in more mature markets, emobility transitions from the early adopter phase to the early mainstream phase.

Founder of World EV Day™

World EV Day™ was founded by Ade Thomas, in partnership with ABB, back in 2020, and takes place on September 9th every year. This global campaign brings businesses, consumers, and governments together to promote electric vehicles to a wide audience.

Previous activations on the day have included offers of free public charging, the use of the day to reveal new EV models such as the Nissan Ariya Nismo, and Audi’s significant World EV Day™ partnership with German football giants FC Bayern Munich.

Founder of EV SUMMIT

Ade Thomas also founded EV SUMMIT in 2018. This exists as a B2B event, bringing together stakeholders from across the EV and emobility industry – including government officials, OEMs, CPOs, leasing firms, and more. Previously, the EV SUMMIT has taken place in both the UK and USA. The EV SUMMIT has led to major collaborations, including the £41 million collaboration between Tesla, EDF Renewables, Fastned the National Grid and Oxford City Council. This was, at the time, Europe’s most powerful EV charging hub.

The EV SUMMIT consists of panel discussions and account managed networking sessions, allowing businesses within the industry – both big and small – to forge high level connections and partnerships.

Founder of EV LIVE

Covering the consumer side, Ade also previously created EV LIVE – a free to attend consumer event which showcases the latest and greatest electric cars, ebikes, and more to the general public, bringing along experts who can explain the ins and outs of EVs to potential first time buyers. It’s also been a useful business tool for OEMs and dealerships attending the event, leading to increased awareness and direct sales.

ElectricDrives

Ade is the founder of ElectricDrives, this site, which on a daily basis covers the latest news and developments across the EV industry. From news, EV reviews, and insightful thought leadership through its ‘EV Leaders’ interview series and Guest Editor section, it’s become a useful tool for businesses to get the latest information on what’s going on in the industry. That’s also reflected in the site’s LinkedIn channel follower account, existing as one of the fastest growing emobility news sites on the network.

Facilitator of projects and partnerships

These events have also enabled the creation of key projects and partnerships, directly benefitting businesses. One key example includes the Energy Superhub Oxford, a 42-bay EV charging hub which has the energy capacity to expand even further. This £41 million project, which recently celebrated its third anniversary, was born out of the UK EV SUMMIT, helping to bring together the CPOs involved in the project, such as Tesla, Wenea, and Fastned, along with officials from Oxford.

Media appearances

Ade has also regularly appeared on TV as an EV commentator, helping fight common disinformation against EVs and promote the true facts about electrification. This included debates on GB News with politicians such as Kwasi Kwarteng and Nigel Farage, as well as appearances on shows such as BBC Breakfast.
