- UK CPO Be.EV has invested £1 million to create what is now the largest EV charging hub in the English county of Shropshire, located at the Telford Centre shopping complex.
- A significant 18 300kW ultra-rapid EV chargers have been installed at the site, allowing drivers to add up to 325 miles of range in 20 minutes.
- Telford already has one of the lowest rates of EV adoption in the UK, meaning that charging infrastructure such as this is crucial for driving EV uptake in the area.
Shropshire receives its largest EV charging hub
Be.EV has been rolling out its charging hubs across the UK at a rapid rate, but this new hub at the Telford Centre marks the largest hub ever built by the CPO. The deal also follows on from a £20 million deal between Be.EV and Schroders Capital to install over 200 ultra-rapid charging bays across 22 retail and leisure sites in the UK.
Located just minutes from the M54 motorway, the new charging infrastructure will be an asset not just to EV drivers in Telford, but for those EV drivers passing on the major road. Around 54,000 vehicles pass this section of the M54 every day, with an ever-increasing proportion of those cars being fully-electric.
Charging hubs such as Be.EV’s new Telford Centre site, often with rapid and ultra-rapid chargers available, will play a key part in encouraging early mainstream EV adoption, by enabling longer-distance EV travel with fast recharge times. Such hubs are now opening at a very high rate, with Zapmap data showing that the number of EV charging hubs in the UK rose an impressive 25% in the first six months of 2025.
Asif Ghafoor, CEO of Be.EV, commented:
“This milestone at Telford Centre shows exactly why Be.EV is the trusted partner of choice for retailers and communities across the UK. It’s not just about building charging points — it’s about delivering reliable, future-proof infrastructure that keeps pace with the rapidly growing EV market.
This £1 million investment is a bold statement of our ambition to make ultra-fast, convenient charging accessible to everyone, right where they live, work, and shop. We’re proud to be leading the charge towards a cleaner, greener future.”
Glynn Morrow, Centre Manager at Telford Centre, added:
“We’re very pleased to be able to offer visitors to Telford Centre the ability to also charge their electric vehicles while they visit us to shop, dine or enjoy our leisure offering. We’re sure the facility will be very popular with customers.”
