Be.EV unveils ultra-rapid charging hub in Manchester, UK, with funding from major banks

Be.EV has launched a new ultra-rapid charging hub at Hulme Retail Park in Manchester. This is the inaugural site that NatWest and KfW IPEX-Bank have funded with a joint £55 million debt partnership. The hub has six ultra-rapid charging bays. These can deliver up to 165 miles of range in just 20 minutes.

This new facility comes at a crucial time. Around 60% of Manchester households lack access to off-street parking. Many urban residents, like those in Hulme, can’t charge their EVs at home. The new hub helps solve this issue by offering fast, accessible public charging.

Bruce Riley, Head of Energy Transition at NatWest, commented:

“Developing a high quality, reliable network of charge points across the UK is central to encouraging the adoption of battery electric vehicles nationally that will help decarbonise the transport system. NatWest is delighted to play its part through financing these investments.”

The charging bays are powered by renewable energy from Octopus Energy. This is part of Be.EV’s broader effort to grow its network. By the end of 2025, the company aims to have 1,600 charge points nationwide.

Hulme is undergoing a major transformation. The area is becoming a hub for sustainability. The new charging hub fits perfectly into this vision. It supports local green initiatives and makes the area more appealing to families, students, and professionals.

Asif Ghafoor, CEO of Be.EV, added:

“This new site in the south of Manchester highlights the power of collaboration, with our deal with NatWest and KfW IPEX-Bank paving the way for the efficient expansion of ultra-rapid, reliable EV charging.

This trailblazing partnership demonstrates how public sector vision, private expertise, and backing from national banks can make a real impact—accelerating the nationwide roll-out of EV infrastructure and bringing charging solutions to communities that need them most.

The Hulme site is a prime example, joining a growing network of Be.EV hubs in key locations like retail parks. These hubs not only serve local communities and EV drivers but also support retailers by driving increased footfall, showing how well-placed infrastructure can benefit both shoppers and businesses alike.”

To celebrate the launch, Be.EV is offering a 50% discount on charging fees during Welcome Week, from February 10th to 16th. This promotion is available to drivers using the Be.EV app or RFID card. Be.EV is on a mission to install the much needed infrastructure in the North of the UK.

Councillor Hans Mundry, Leader of Warrington Borough Council, welcomed the development:

“We fully support the continued rollout of EV charging facilities throughout the North West, and we’re delighted to welcome Be.EV as new tenants at the retail park.”
